I've gone through days, months and years sitting through collections that lack emotional and cultural relevance to me, but this evening... it was a different one!
I attended a spectacular joint-venture fashion event of all-things-SEA...!!!
...and when I say "SEA", I mean all-things-South-East-Asian and all-things-ocean-like...
As soon as I arrived at the venue, I was amazed by the array of beautifully designed and crafted products staged glamorously next to one another...
it was three of girls' BEST friends:
!!!... DRESSES + CLUTCHES + SHOES ...!!!
NOT ONLY THAT...
All the products are tied in together with a cohesive theme:
"BATIK is My Soul"
(yes, in simple terms, it's that PRINTED piece of cloth you wrap around your waist by the beach... BUT it isn't just that...)
So what's "Batik"...?
Batik (Javanese pronunciation: [ˈbateʔ]; Indonesian: [ˈbatɪʔ]; English: /ˈbætɪk/ or /bəˈtiːk/) is a cloth that traditionally uses a manual wax-resist dyeing technique.

The designers featured in this evening are...
JOVIAN MANDAGIE (dresses)
KLUTCHED (clutches)
RHEA BENSON (shoes)
BUT I think the knock-out STAR of the event is...
***JOVIAN MANDAGIE***
*Jovian completely blew my mind away with his latest collection - it was well thought out and well executed considering the fact that he's so young, and still has so much room for growth and improvement. The collection bleeds the blood of Alexander McQueen the great, girlie Stella McCartney as well as the master of ethnic-chic, Dries Van Noten.

He played around with the body-conscious yet youthful silhouette, the color palette is vibrant and the combination of the elements were spot-on! It certainly isn't a simple task to match the perfect piece of batik to sequins and snakeskin, but he did it! On top of that, the draping and pleating of the layers of batik create a beautiful "wave" and movement to the dresses. Let me tell ya, the Jovian-Mermaid has finally been granted the legs for her to walk proudly on the ground and she's going to PARTY...
LOVE!!!
stay tuned for more about KLUTCHED in the next postings...
^______^
(*I'm sorry, but Rhea Benson was kind of disappointing... I thought the designs of their shoes were good, but the execution was pretty bad... I hate to say this - I know the displays were sample pieces, but I'm not sure if any potential customers would want to see material peeling off the platform of the heels... attention to DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS is so crucial in this business!!!)
